Gwen and Marina had never been to Paris before, and they had a lot of fun. They were excited to see some of the famous landmarks that they've seen in picutres, or heard about in stories and movies. I admit I was very nervous about driving in Paris. As far as I could remember from having been there years ago, it's a massive city, with unbelievably complicated roads, and all the rules (what rules?) are in French. Add to that that our steering wheel is on the right side of our car, and I figured that one way or another we were lined up for a bumby catastrophy. David said he was happy to do the driving, and so instead of being nervous about how I was going to drive in Paris, I got to be nervous about how David was going to drive in Paris.
The traffic was every bit as horrible as I remembered. What I didn't realize was that the overriding principles of chaos and high-speed vehicular confusion makes perfect sense to David. He loved every minute of it. And I have to say that those enormous roundabouts, moving with hundreds of speeding cars all coming and going in different directions seemed to lift David to a calmer state of mind. He happily joined the chaotic waves of traffic, weaving in and out, cutting people off, and generally getting us around very efficiantly. (I yelled periodically) I now believe that David has been a closet Insano Driver his whole life, and he needed Paris to bring him to his higher self. It was freaky, and it's probably ruined him for normal driving, but I'm glad I didn't have to drive in Paris.

If you blow the picture way way up you can see Jen and the kids by the riverside.
